Leonard Cohen, introducing one of his own songs at the last concert I saw:

...or was that a 'revelation', Mad/Ben?

It seems to me that debating the ratio of artists to saints isn't all that
far from counting the angels on the head of a pin. Pinch me, but I'd
thought the Englightenment (lovely name for an epoque!) washed all that sort
of slime away.

And frankly, after you mentioned St. Wolfgang, Scottie, I got even more
confused about the distinction between saints and artists.

I think this is maybe what Mattis was talking about earlier.
