Stashed in among the lines of one of his always thought-provoking posts,
Madhava/Ben had the temerity to ask:

>Mattis, what's the difference, do you think, between a poet and yogi?

Attempting to answer this question looks like a perfect opportunity to
show you just what fool I really am, since being neither poet or yogi,
just a clown, I am hardly qualified to tell the difference.

Similarly to Scottie, I have spent the majority of my adult years changing
diapers, taking out the garbage, and driving car pools. Still, I have reason
to believe that if you keep some part of you focused on heaven while
your eyes are busily down to earth, that these mundane activities might
somehow be related to "doing the yoga". If you are willing to
expose yourself occasionally, and let the words flow through you
dragging your feelings behind, there is a chance that you might find
those words singing themselves to you like poetry. I still have no
way to judge the difference though, if there is one. Is there?

I realize that you are all ready to suggest that I get a job writing
Hallmark greeting cards (though Paul will say it very politely, of course),
but I have already admitted I would make a fool of myself, so no comments
  are necessary.

  have a good weekend,
  R. M. "Guru" Rilke
