Hiya Scout,

Welcome to bowl. With all of the non-existent authority vested in me by my fellow fishes I hereby permit you post your essay and any other sense or non-sense you're brave enough to drop on us. Don't think you might not get a good natured elbow in the rib or paragraph though, if you do. Probably we'll love it though and suspect you of being someone you're not.

Love,
Madhava

  Subject: An Elongated Introduction.

  Hi there.
  My name is Scout Thompson. I work in a bakery.

  I am hoping a hello is appropriate for this mailing list; I am a writer myself
  and am looking for a bit of a push in that direction; I mean to actually write.
  I guess, from Salingers work, you get the impression that a writer writes;
  I guess I have kind of got the opposite impression. I mean I'm a writer, by god,
  but I don't write hardly anything, excepting haiku-esque poetry in a small black book,
  and even that is just description of what I see out there outside my head.

  Anyway, I have written a three and a half page essay on Paul Alexanders
  Biography of Salinger; and I was tempted to send it to the list but was wondering
  if it is too long for the lists tastes. I've also submitted it to salinger.org....

  Let me know, privately if you wish, if it is acceptable to post something of
  that length, and also, I suppose, if anyone would read it if I did.

  Thanks;

  -s.
