Me. Hello. I just discovered Bananafish and blah blah blah...here I am. I
just can't get over spelling out the word banana (I have to think about it
every damn time). I suppose this is just a fancy way to procrastinate, but
I'm hoping to find some other Salinger enthusiasts. I read Franny and Zooey
for the first time in high school and I wept because I couldn't believe that
all of the nuances of Salinger's writing...all of the idiosyncrasies of the
characters, the repetition, the worked-up-ness, the oddity...it all seemed
as though it had crawled out from under my skin. I believe I have tracked
down every story he has written (but have yet to read them all...they don't
believe in giving you time for leisure reading in college). Right now I'm
attempting to write to him (I live only an hour away) and I have had 3
letters returned (all attempts sent to different addresses). I guess I can
spare you the melodrama and get to the point: have any of you (you?...I
don't know who 'you' are quite yet...)ever written to Salinger, and if so,
what was your experience? Responses? What address did you use?
