Ha. That's a contributor's note that was better by far than the piece
which accompanied it. Still, it was my first pub, and I was pleased at
the time. Cripes. God save me from my juvenalia.

And yes, a bananafish was one of the reasons. Then, there's "The
Pleasures of the Fishes," "Fishin' in the Dark," and the Christian fish,
all of which have had meaning for me at some point in my life. But I was
never brave enough to get the tattoo. Got as far as the parlor once, but
I had to wait, and so I left. I'm still not sure if I regret the entire
affair.
