    Actually, I'm sorry I didn't automatically like it. It's always a pity
    to find a discrepancy in taste with people one respects. I could see
    it had relevance to the list, though. A 'wise child', witty dialogue, a
    crisis in the family (and the family as the solution thereof). Perhaps
    it would be interesting to pinpoint the differences with Salinger and
    their effects. I also read the story Scottie mentioned: it sounded as
    the stalled climax of the other stories from that book (which I haven't
    read).

    Incidentally, Tim, whom must one kill to get hold of Scottie's novels?
    I truly hope it's not you, you happy owner.
