You are missing the point. What we have here is a simple logical problem.

Your premise assumes your conclusion, so rational debate is impossible.

Basically, your argument is "many intellectuals are smugly superior and
disconnected from reality, therefore many intellectuals are smugly superior
and disconnected from reality."

As a deductive argument, this is simply a tautology. It cannot be argued
against because the premise already assumes the conclusion and therefore it
is a purely circular and, by definition, pointless argument.

As an inductive argument, it needs a preponderance of evidence in support of
it, and the only evidence you have offered so far is that you and some of
your friends got some bad grades.

Thus, as of now, due to how you've constructed the argument, no rational
debate is possible.

Oh, and what I "do with all that money" is try to teach young people how to
think critically.

Sometimes, I even do it for free.
