hi everybody. my name's jennifer (yes, the generic name singled out in a lot
of your messages!). i don't take offense at all, because i agree that it's
pretty unimaginative. i like the name, i just wish everyone else didn't have
it too! my middle name, mary, is pretty boring, too.

i'm 17 years old and a junior in high school. we read catcher in the rye
this year in english. i had read it before, but didn't think it was
life-altering. when i read it this year, i couldn't believe how much i had
missed the first time! you could almost say the book changed my life. ever
since then, i've been reading everything i can about salinger. i read ian
hamilton's biography, and right now i'm in the middle of franny and zooey.

anyways, i guess i'll talk to all of you later. oh, i agree that gatsby is
the most similar to holden due to their obsession w/time. in fact, i wrote
my final term paper on that very subject for english!
