That's where the idea of social security numbers came from, I'm sure. Too
many John Smiths were out there, and nobody knew where their money was
being sent, or which John Smith was going to retire on some other John
Smith's wages. However, number i.d.ing people could cause it's own
political and social consequences. After all, isn't that how they kept
track of people in holocaust death camps? (That is, unless you're one of
those that don't believe there was a holocaust-in that case, never mind)

My parents were married in Spain. When I was, oh, 'bout 5 months in the
womb, they decided to name me Jennifer. Then all the spanish women named
their children Jennifer. Then they decided to name me Jessica upon
returning to the U.S. They returned three months before my birth, only to
find out that everyone was naming their children Jessica. What to do?
There were two choices left-name me after a grandmother. Choices? Mamie
Jo. Bessie. Janet. I'm glad my parents had a minimal amount of sanity
left at that time-who knows what's happened since!

As for Jennifers, there are a lot, but what's creepy is when they have the
same, uncommon middle names. Like at work. We have two Jennifers, and
when everyone compared their middle names, they found out that they were
both Jennifer Joy. Sucks to be them, because they hate their names. I
personally was cursed with a lame middle name, which I would change in an
instant. Lynn. Who doesn't know someone with the middle name Lynn?

I think that your name influences who you are as far as personality. Have
you ever noticed that people with the same names often have similar
personality traits? ****Ob Salinger--Could that be why Salinger doesn't
pick frequently used (abused?) names for characters in his novels? i.e.
Holden, Franny, Seymour. How many Seymours, Frannys, and Holdens do you
know?

Janet :)
