It's like learning a new vernacular. You get the hang of it after about
200 pages. But "Oxen of the Sun" could take a month by itself. And there
really isn't any sense in rushing through it. REading alongside the notes
(Gifford, _Ulysses Annotated_) made the experience much more enjoyable for
me, but it does slow progress considerably.
