First, apologies to all for being tardy in replying to messages on the list
(Malcs and Camille: I skimmed through your messages on the 'Dear Author'
thread, but because of being tied up with all sorts of preoccupations,
couldn't respond and ended up deleting them. My sister gets married on May
4 after which I hope to be more active on the list, as well as work on the
far-from-complete FAQ)

Camille, the story Garfunkel describes, _currente calamo_, sounds like the
'Inverted Forest' to me, though I could be wrong. There is nothing illegal
about discussing any of the "Uncollected" stories. JDS can rightly get into
a snit complaining about somebody "collecting" and marketing them, but for
individual readers, they are all available in the back issues of magazines
they were originally published in. Stephen's site lists the publishing
details (as does my page on
http://members.tripod.com/~SundeepDougal/jds.html)

Infact, if you go through the list archives on Tim's page, you might even
come across a longish thread on this particular one some 11-12 months back,
and the wishful speculation at the time of the news of possible Hapworth
release in a book form, that this is the story most likely to be published
alongwith...

While, _panta rhei_, as Heraclitus said, all things are in a state of flux,
I am more inclined to agree with Garfunkel's buddy Paul Simon:
after changes upon changes we are more or less the same! `De Daumier
Smith's Blue Period' remains my most favourite (or, 'favorite') story in
the Nine Stories, as well...
