would it be, well this is for the readers, improper
to ask on bananafish about...
salinger is one of the few writer's whose books still
feel like gifts.
and a writer of books that genuinely mean something
to me.
sometimes there are books that you just have to read
for your own mental health. of sorts.
at these times all other books become unreadable even
with my amazingandincredible will power.

the salinger books are among these.
and the Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
and maybe Ariel by Sylvia Plath.
and a handful of poems by a handful of poets.

and although i like and enjoy Finnegan's wake and
ulysses and endgame and kafka and etc. and would tell
people i know to read them because they are good.
there are few that have this kind of value. and i was
wondering if it would be too much or improper here to
ask if other people had any books (because i sure as
sunshine haven't read everything or everyone) that
they value in such a way.
in other words i'm asking for a list of "the greatest
books" based on no-ones standards but your own.

much obliged.
paul.

p.s.
rhyming has nothing to do with being a poet.
and neither does writing poems.
