This is purely about mailing list technicalities. Bethany's latest views (on protecting Salinger's privacy) arrive in a format which entails the reader having to scroll along the screen to accommodate three very long lines of text. I'm wondering if this arises from some new program which is gaining popularity - but which does not seem to `fit' those of us with more old-fashioned mailers. The problem - if it can be so regarded - has prompted discussion on at least two other lists to which I belong (Hemingway & Trollope). As it happens, I can read Bethany's message but a recurrent complaint is that with many of these others the end of the line - even when one has scrolled to the end - is chopped & apparently lost forever. Anyone else in this here lifeboat ? Scottie B.
