You missed my point 1) I never insinuated that Salinger was on e-mail, or indeed that he knows any of the terminology associated with it. It wasn't circular logic, it was just an analogy > >To treat him like some > > sort of novelty or joke is to me not only puerile but rude to him as well. > HMMM, do baseball players or movie stars feel like a novelty or joke when > poeple try to get their autographs You missed my point 2). I didn't say that asking him for his autograph would make a joke of him. I meant that the actual letter was an open mocking of him ; it basically says `Well aren't you a stupid loser, you fell for it didn't you!' If you went up to a movie star and handed them a piece of dog crap to sign with a big smile on your face, it *would* make them feel like a joke - it's pretty much the same thing. I'm not going to reply to any more messages of this nature in the interests of quelling this argument that's frankly boring the crap out of me. I'd rather be talking about his work than knocking on the metaphorical door of his personality. Camille verona_beach@geocities.com @ THE ARTS HOLE www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Theater/6442
