    Hello all,

Regarding posting the uncollected/underpublished stories on
this list, I am surprised that Tim O'Connor, the list owner, has not
    spoken up.

Not presuming to speak with authority, I would simply like to
point out a paragraph in the welcome message we all receive upon
    subscribing:

Please do not post copyrighted material to the list. Anyone who
does so will be permanently removed from this list. "Bananafish"
exists to discuss an author's work, not to steal anybody's
       intellectual property.

As history has shown, dealing with Salinger's copyrighted materials
is very full of difficulties, and at least one web site has been asked
to withdraw such material. The maintainers of this list have written
on several occasions to state that they would not like to see anything
on this list which might cause it to be harassed. This would, to me,
seem to include circulating these stories, and might even include
discussion of how to circulate them, though of course that is not as bad
as actually publishing them to the list.

Of course if we simply gave the stories names like "The Varoini Brothers"
or "Hapwerth 16, 1924" we might just get away with it.

   all the best,
   Mattis
