Yeah, Will, my boyfriend is pretty much the original phony-basher, an excellent example of what we call in Australia a well-tuned `bullshit detector' (crucial for detecting submerged irony (: ). To sound utterly snobbish about it, I've tried to go out with philistines before and it just hasn't worked at all, I can't bear not having the mental challenge. But it's true. When I first started with Bananafish I remember a lot of people chided me for going out with someone who didn't like TCIR. But one lone voice said `Good on you, for not letting something as minor as that get in the way. And good on him, for having the guts to say what he believes in'. I recall you saying that your wife is a dance critic and you've agreed to just disagree on that topic (and as an aside, I'm with ya on that one (: ) Seems like a good policy to me. BTW - as I was pondering Scottie's post, I realised how odd it is that only a week or so ago he was disclaiming the psychiatric theories that classify people into one of twelve different personalities. It seems a tad hypocritical, then, to go right ahead and classify seventeen million people into *one* personality type (: Camille verona_beach@geocities.com @ THE ARTS HOLE http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Theater/6442 @ THE INVERTED FOREST http://www.angelfire.com/pa/invertedforest > As always, Scottie has it all wrong--Camille, don't listen to the unhappy > old farts on this list who dream of you.
