Unlike Europe, America is sadly lacking the sort of rich cultural identity
that results from thousands years of brewing and fermentation. We're an
incoherent patchwork of individuals, cliques, subcultures, and ethnicities.
Drive through any American suburb you like, and just look at dizzying mess
of franchises, strip malls, and signs - each of them built and placed
without any regard for the surrounding context.

What little history we do have is dominated by capitalists, cowboys, and
gangsters. The copywrite is owned by Hollywood.

When I think about it, it doesn't surprise me that every so often in this
country, an isolated teen-ager decides he's going out with guns a blazin',
an anti-social former professory decides to start sending care-packages that
explode when you open them, and another genius proclaims that our population
needs guns in order to shoot down the black helicopters.
