That's true.  I didn't mean to imply the people were powerless in a
Democracy.  But I wanted to recognize that power takes different forms. 
The disarmament of an entire populace means the redistribution of
destructive force so that it's entirely in the hands of the government.

And I don't trust this.  I think it's dangerous.  See, we don't really
have a democracy over here in America, anyways.  We have a Republic. 
That's rule by representation.  The people ostensibly have power over
their representatives through the vote, but in fact once these guys are
in it's very, very hard to get them out, especially before their term is
up.  And I know how politicians are, how they act, and what they want. 
To a degree, at least.  

So I'm not about to trust them with "all" the guns :)  No way.  That's
one step away from losing the vote.
