It's very discouraging to be a leftist here, because everyone
>spends their time trying to convince you that you're fighting a lost cause.
>Can someone give me some more uplifting words?
>
>Pete.

Well Pete, I live in Texas and am surrounded by conservatives and I go to
college in the south, albeit a liberal arts college. I can't give you many
"uplifting words" except to say that I go to a school in the deep south where
many of the students are wealthy and still leftists remain and somewhat of a
balance is reached. A friend of mine who is a staunch conservative told me
the other day that when I voted for Al Gore for president last november that
my vote meant nothing in a state where the Rep. party was a shoe in. I told
him through clenched teeth that my vote meant something to me and although I
was helping a cause that needed much more help than I could give it. By
voting the way I did I was still taking a stand and making a statement. Maybe
if more people voted that way things would be a little different.

P.S.
I apologize for the # of emails I have sent instead of combining them, but I
am sorting through the mass of emails I have in my inbox from this list. I
have had to get my strength up before I could venture in and attempt to tackle
the many worthy emails from my fellow bananafishers. Also to any one who
enjoys alternative music, I recently bought the new cd by Jimmy Eat World and
am loving it as I have listened to it all the way through at least 20 times in
the past 2 days =)
