I'm sorry, but I miss your point. I used to go to raves (probably at that
very same warehouse as a matter of fact. NAF?) all the time, and I knew
people older than you who went on a regular basis. That's what they wanted
to do, so what? Maybe they'll "grow out of it," maybe they won't. Me not
going anymore was a choice I made for myself, because I made new priorities
that didn't include staying up all night dancing.

Whether or not someone follows Holden's intellectual and/or moral lead
doesn't really have anything to do with that person's age, I would think.
He hates phonies and doesn't like the ways of the world. I'm not going to
drop out of school and run away anytime soon, but I can't say I disagree
with him, and I don't think it's an immature viewpoint that he has. He
recognizes things, at a very young age, that many people never will, and he
tries to fight against what he sees as wrong, in his way. I know there are
plenty of "adults" who couldn't make the same claim.

The Scottmeister:
"Well, ***k you, Draine."

Well, now, that's not the response I expected. I guess it serves me
right having actually (finally!) posted something relevant to Salinger.

I'm sure you've missed my point. If acting like a kid makes you happy,
go for it I say! Find and indulge that inner child! Suck your thumb,
pout, poop your pants, whatever gets you off.

Here's a personal anecdote on regression. (Warning, Scottie, reading any
further may spur another bout of Tourette's.) I'm 31. When I recently
learned my wife was pregnant, I went on a bit of a partying binge - you
know, get your kicks while you still can. One night my 30-something
friends and I went to a full on rave at a warehouse. We were very much
with the 19-22 year old crowd, spritually, philosophically, chemically
(wink wink). We had a blast. But actually mixing with a bunch kids made
it obvious that, although we may be young at heart, our minds are not,
nor will they ever again be, 21 years old.
