Not to ignore the rest of the post, but the song was actually written in 1923
to playfully parody the broken English of Greek marketmen selling fruit and
other wares. It has been playfully performed (and made fairly famous) by a
singer/songwriter/band leader named Spike Jones. Highly worth checking out,
if you're into that stuff.
