Bernie, Warren is not on email...however I owe him a letter and will
ask he will let me post his snail mail to, ok?

BTW, you quoted a fine passage which I think I may have alluded to on
the TOTN show I did with Chris. I don't want to get into a ranking
frenzy about critics since some (maybe Salinger first) like to
dismiss them and some (maybe me...;) take them too seriously. I have
collected so much Salinger criticism though and I'm quite happy with
it altogether. I mean, it's not always "right" or even easy to read,
but I guess I get a kick out of how others experience Salinger's
prose. I listened to a tape of the BBC broadcast and though I don't
agree with many of the points, it was well done and fun to hear.
Maybe I'm also feeling so upbeat about the critical response to
Salinger because I just got back from Suzanne's wonderful
hypertext...it may be one of the finest examples I've read of
hypertexting criticism so that it can be more creative. I think that
focusing only on critical thinking is not as much fun and finding
ways to use creative and critical thinking. Bernie, you do use
hypertext, criticism and creativy on your site too...I know that you
and Suzanne and so many on this list are teaching me about responding
to Salinger that I should probably say thank you a million times per
nanosecond...((((())))))will
