Sorry to be so sincere...I know much of what is posted is joking, but
some of the best human qualities I've experienced, I have found in
abundance in people Scottie might see as "old women." I had dinner
last night with "E." She's 81. Her 92 year old husband, a brilliant
man, is suffering from Altziemher's (sp) disease and spends his days
in his park ave apt in a hospital bed uncertain about most things he
perceives. The strength and wisdom of E was incredible. We played
chess and she didn't give up. She doesn't walk well, she has no
children and sick siblings, and she didn't complain to me, not once.
E simply didn't lose her heart, head and spirit to the kinds of
thinks that humble most of us. If I have a small fraction of what E
has in her, I'm better for it and so are those who listen closely to
the words and deeds of "old women." will
PS: E lives at 1120 park ave...just a door or two away from where JDS
used to live.
