unfortunately, will, at no time in human history has peace ever led to a
peaceful world. We've only had peace when one nation, in its strength,
dominated all rivals completely and maintained power for a sustained period
of time. In the 20th century the "one nation" was substituted for "allied
nations," and specifically western colonizing nations, but the principle is
still the same.

That being said, I don't think this is a desirable situation either. And I
think other options _always_ need to be explored first.

But I would like to point out that while it could be said the US, for
example, provoked the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, no western power
provoked the Iran-Iraq war or Hussein's invasion of Kuwait. The guy is an
aggressor all on his own.
