I'm back!

Hello dearest bananafish,

I'm back online after several months of being thwarted by lack of internet access, mistakes with resubscription and so on. Seems like I'm not as computer literate as I thought! But, with Tim's kind and expert help, I've managed to rejoin you. (Thanks Tim.)

I am currently living in London and working for a few months so that I can finally spend time with my boyfriend (we went to different universities and have spent the past three years 100 miles apart (I know that probably sounds like nothing at all to you Yanks, but it's very inconvenient, take it from me). This lovenest is not destined to last very long, though, as I'm about to take a TEFL course and plan to go over to Italy in January to teach English. In the meantime, I'm having a very nice time. The main problem is maintaining the motivation to get anything done; I'm trying to write a paper on Philip Pullman (he of 'His Dark Materials' fame) but after the past three years of work my energy is a bit low. Still, it's something I'm really interested in, so should get going, given time.

What's been going on in the list? Are all you hoary headed stalwarts still out there? (Robbie, I mean you especially!) Incidentally, I got a shock when I was surfing the web and ended up on Will's homepage. Will has a beard! I don't know why this surprises me, it's just I never, ever imagine anyone as having a beard, they're not part of my mental furniture. It's a very nice beard, though.

I'm sure this discussion is long dead, but when I spoke about Lawrence Durrell's Kabbalah studying Jew I meant Balthazar, of course, not Benjamin. Please excuse my senility.

Well, I'll sign off now till I see what delights my inbox brings. Any fish who happen to be passing through London, let me know, I'd like to meet up and am happy to provide food and even a bed if you don't mind sleeping in a one room flat for a night!
