Kim,
Please forgive me if I am dominating this thread! I have some time on my
hands before my job starts tommorow. yes,it was Mr. Antolini who phoned up
D.B. and told him not to go to Hollywood, after reading his stories. He is
also the one who picked up the dead boy off the ground.BUT, this was years
ago when he taught at Elkton Hills. At the point Holden visits him in the
book he has quit and has a "job" at NYU and I believe he even quotes a
psychoanalyst when talking to Caulfield. So my theory does have holes in it,
but still, I maintain a high school teacher of English or even one of math
that can "pass out algorithim tables" has more respect in the Eyes of
Salinger than someone like Franny's profs. Or even Seymour's colleagues at
Columbia...
