Jim,

Why not call up the evidence? Because my point to Luke really has nothing to
do with Ashcroft at all, as a thorough review of the history of our
conversation will reveal. In fact, the point, about rhetoric and power, even in Luke's
world, was demonstrated to my delight long ago, and the rest of this is just
having fun. You and I know what Ashcroft is. So does anyone who pays any
attention. Such a discussion here is not necessary for me. I'd rather just get
Daniel going....

Daniel,

You're wrong about people in my world (like you, for instance, despite your
attempts at denial) not having any basis for systems of judgment. We have all
sorts of them. We have numerous, carefully crafted, heterogeneous ones that
are constantly evolving. You do, too. You'd just rather pretend that you
don't. Read Just Gaming, you'll see "just" what I mean.

And you keep talking this nonsense about big-T Truth. Here's a simple
experiment. Let's look at a single question and a single book. I know, let's take
the Bible, for instance. There's been a lot of talk about it in these parts
recently.

I'm going to ask you a simple question, and by the time I get back to town on
Sunday, I want a big-T Truth answer.

Does the Bible say it's OK for Tina to have sex with her girlfriend?

Does it say it's not OK?

I ask because I've been reading the paper, and each article has umpteen
conservative religious experts and scholars saying that the Bible says it's not OK
and every other article has umpteen liberal ones saying the Bible doesn't say
that at all.

What's the big-Truth my boy? Inquiring minds want to know. Is it OK for Tina
to do it according to this goofy little book or not?

Lay it on me.

I'll be back later to see the revelations.

Of course, why anyone would care about the question remains a mystery to me.

Still enjoying the silliness,

--John
