so, saying that buddy wrote both these stories...what do y'all
think...about...did buddy (salinger) figure out something about seymour
(himself)(salinger) in the span of years it took to write the two
stories...and what?

>>> daniel.yocum@Peterson.af.mil 08/26/03 02:17PM >>>
a perfect day......................................an exquisite day
story begins with wife.............................story begins with Dad
sea................................................sea
Seymour out of synch with wife.....................Teddy out of synch with
dad
terry cloth robe/royal blue trunks/no shoes........dirty white ankle
sneakers/no socks/ill fit shorts/worn t-shirt/nice alligator belt
odd observations, yellow etc.......................odd observation, orange
peels etc
...
sees Dr's.........................................sees Dr's
...
I'll leave it there and say in the long and short of it is it seems that
Seymour wasn't as pure as the dirt shoed Teddy; Teddy saw floating orange
peelings and became floating orange peelings while Seymour saw fat ladies on
porches and never could become a fat lady on a porch.
Daniel

teddy, at ten, is seymour at thirty. teddy's very quickly loosing his
balance.
he has lots of spiritual intellect but little spiritual compassion. he is
alienated and it's certainly his time. that's why teddy is the last of the
nine stories. it mirrors bananafish, the first. teddy's death explains
seymour's.

thoughts?
