>I wonder who else will confess their multiple catcher collection? Not Catcher so much, since I tend to give those out as soon as I get more than one, but 9 Stories--I have some interesting editions including one with a tic-tac-toe board on the cover listing a story in each square, and one garishly colored argyle-type-thing with red, yellow, and green diamonds and such... Did anyone ever hear that theory that the red paperback editions of Catcher are deeply symbolic? My English teacher tried to feed us that crap--a red cover because it is a frequently repeated color in the book and symbolizes the violence of Holden's adolescence, the title in yellow because rye is (vaguely) yellow, and JDS's name in blue because of the optical illusion that makes it seem to recede from the cover, and he's a recluse? One more question. Is anyone familiar with the term caul child? Does that condition relate at all to Holden? emily ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
