I think it's interesting to look at holden through christian standard
because in some ways he a lot like mr. magoo when it comes to
christianity...in other words, he seems to be so tuned into the
religiosity and goals of christianity that seems to not see them...like
when he runs into the nuns, he's so awkward but also giving of himself in
a perfectly christian way...I worry about the rise of the religious right
and as a citizen of colorado springs I've lived through hell due to
zealous christians who think their religious views don't go far enough
into schooling and home to suit themselves, so  I worry about how the
question of holden's christianity might be presented.  I've always felt
that the beauty of holden's character is that beneath all the mucking
around and searching, there's a person who is very admirable in some ways
most religions would praise...will
