I am a published (5) novelist from the former Yugoslavia. Going down the memory lane, I recollect borrowing "The Catcher In The Rye" from the library section of the US Embassy in Belgrade, at the age of 16. There were no books in English at the bookstores, and, if you found some - they were all on a red side. One of my secret loves was the English language which wasn't one of the favorites among government rats. What fascinated me about JDS? The language, the simplicity, and the depth. Now, I can say it out loud -- I learned more about Amerika through Salinger then with collected works of Updike and the similar. I hope to learn some more about JDS, and I'm open to it.
