Will, you wrote: >sorry brian, I thought it would help--if you weren't looking to track down >the literary illusion, what were you looking for...a date? will Will, I am the one who must apologise. Firstly, for not thanking you for your efforts in answering (what was a serious) inquiry. Secondly, for being flippant and facetious when I didn't fully grasp some of the terms in your response. I am afraid I am one of those lowbrows (well, I'll claim middlebrow status, it might get me a few dates) who often strike out in fear of the unknown. Rather than admitting the gaps in my knowledge and asking for guidance, I tend to mock someone else's erudition. Anyone on this list with experience in educating will have encountered this type of individual upon numerous occasions (usually seated at the back of the class groaning a lot. Those of you will understand me a little more now.) So please, forgive me my foolishness and don't tell your friends about me. Incidentally, I did some research of my own (of course, I should have done this to begin with, but I really did think Peter Abelard was some 50's New York TV personality!). I found quite an interesting read at: http://www.humnet.ucla.edu/humnet/anthropoetics/views/view13.htm Right, now that's settled,..... who's on for a date? -- your callipygean correspondent, Brian fentonb@mathds1.ul.ie UIN = 1786973 VENEER homepage: http://mathds1.ul.ie:8080/~fentonb/index.html "you can't beat a good pear.."
