Re: Shallow Intellectual Drivel on this List

I haven't been a member of this list all that long, and joined it (to put it
bluntly) simply because most of my friends are getting rather sick of the fact
that I tend to answer questions with quotes from The Catcher in the Rye, and
the fact that I always relate everything right back to it.
It seems to me, though, that any mockery that goes on here is in good humor,
and isn't meant to intentionally hurt anyone. That may happen sometimes, but
it appears inadvertant. Although the members of this list are apparently all
rather different people, there is apparently a binding force. And that's been
enough so far to at least keep me interested. Or maybe it's the differences
that keep me interested. That actually seems a little more likely, now that I
think about it.
Conclusion: The love of Salinger has brought us together, and our
differences in opinion keep us here (or drive some people away screaming, but
hey, what can you do?).
