Though most of what tim has been saying has my head nodding, this below
went straight to my heart.  I too think giving writers a bit of slack is
necessary, since I think all writing is risky business and most of what we
are risking is the self...

One thing has been bothering me though--why do you suppose mr. salinger
didn't just use a pen name?
