	Malcolm had already got there & Dan was pointing to the swelling 
	in his cheek just as my feet left the diving board.

	As for Willie being a barrel of monkey or laughs or whatever, 
	surely Cakes & Ale is one of the funnier presentations of 
	wickedness ?	

	For anyone interested in the writer's craft there are few more 
	healthful texts than The Summing Up & A Writer's Notebook. 
	Much of the beautifully limpid simplicity of my own style derives 
	from them.
