Please do not peddle bootlegs here.

The last time this happened, in 1974, Salinger and his attorneys got the
FBI involved and made serious noises in the press.  I do not want this list
to be a target if the lawyers and agents wish to involve law enforcement in
pursuing those responsible for making this new unauthorized edition.  It's
not a question of whether I think it's right or wrong.  It's that this is
not the venue for advertising or conducting these illegal sales.

If anyone is curious about the legal background, check out Lacey Fosburgh's
1974 interview with Salinger, as published in the NY Times, readily
available on microfilm in many libraries.  8-)
