First let me say that I can't believe how anal some people can be about
little niggling things like this. To give you some perspective here, Malcs
and I were online at the same time and the whole e-conversation took
minutes, at which point I decided there were more relevant things to be
discussing and thus I signed off

or SHE as the case may be

I would be thoroughly and utterly bored if I didn't hear about Salinger on
the Tarantino listserve, Tarantino on the Flaubert listserve, Flaubert on
the Julian Barnes listserve and even postmodernism on the postmodernism
listserve.

Goodness me. Next thing someone will be talking about opium on the
Coleridge listserve or plain cold bonkerism on the Blake listserve, or crap
literature on the Harold Robbins listserve. It's all interconnected. *Life*
is interconnected. The only reason I put posts up is because I hope in my
vain way someone will gain an insight into them. If I feel we're veering a
little too far away from it (and to me understanding Buddhism even in a
rudimentary sense is handy to know when reading `Teddy') I catch myself up.
And I believe that is being considerate.
