This rings a bell.  I may have read something about a Iranian movie
based on a Salinger work in the NY Times within the last few years or
so, definately since '90 (Yeah, that still puts the needle somewhere
far down in the haystack, don't it?).  Anyone interested might try
searching the NY Times index volumes looking under Salinger of course,
or possibly some category of foreign films, film festivals, or Iranian
films/directors.  The one public library close by me with a complete
set on open shelves is closed for renovations.
