before the election i wouldn't have believed that i would feel this way now
(i almost voted for dubya because of his views on the state of the military
(he's right, damn right, by the way), but i backed out and swung over to
ralph to voice my (somewhat meager, in retrospect) dissent), but somehow
i've become a rabid democrat. i'm afraid that i've let the propaganda get
to me, that i'm becoming another mindless slave to the political machine
(whatever became of the libertarians?), that i'm going to wake up chanting
"count every vote" (and what the hell was so hard about that anyway? isn't
that a pretty basic tenet of democracy?) and sweating like a whore in
church. soon i'll be hanging on every one of jesse jackson's oddly
inflected words, unable to pry my eyes from his steely gaze. every day
condoleeza rice looks more and more like the wicked witch of the west and
dubya like nothing less than the anti-christ. do i really admire bill
clinton as much as i seem to now? do i really think "gore in '04" is a good
idea? what the hell happened to me? where has my idealism gone? and why
does colin powell make me nauseous?
