Re: a very banana christmas story

Mike, I'm not Scottie's friend. I don't like him and never have found
much to value when I read his posts in the past. In fact, I've stopped
reading him and people like John Gedsudski because I think they are
bullies who don't offer our list anything except cheap shots that some
(but not me) might call criticism. I look to bananafish for ideas about
Salinger and information about Salinger's readers and how we live our
lives. If you go through the archives, you will see posts from people
like Kim Johnson and Sundeep Dougal and many, many others who offer
insights and ideas about Salinger that are interesting and useful.

It's amusing to me that I'm being attacked as PC and that I'm in some
way against Christmas. It's not a PC issue to stand up and fight
against someone using an offensive term about your religion and I
happen to enjoy Christmas gatherings with my family. Actually, I like
good ideas from all of the religions I've studied.

What's this really about? In rhetoric, the apporpirate term is "straw
man" --Scottie wishes to imagine I'm the problem--so he sets me up as a
"straw man" target to trick others into thinking that I'm being PC or
anti-Christmas when in fact, I've said nothing against Christmas and
simply objected to being addressed in a derisive manner. Clearly Mike,
you and most of us, aren't fooled. I respect all people on this list
and endorse their right to speak as they wish, but I'm not wasting more
time on people who make racist remarks and who are focused on saying
hurtful things to or about others.

Glad to hear from you--thanks for your kind words, will
