I believe John about the English translations of Marquez -- the books in
English are incredible. I can't imagine reading them in Spanish.

But Spanish is relatively simple (there are a few conjugations of verbs
reflecting degrees of certainty and time that aren't really directly
translatable, I don't think) and Marquez's writing is very descriptive.
No matter what language you're speaking, a parrot is a parrot, even if
it's an annoying, colorful parrot.
