I do read posts from time to time, to make sure Jim is still distracting
himself from his academic work, and to see whether Cecilia is famous yet.
And to check up on Daniel's commas.

But it's been a very busy semester, and I've been spending all my
vituperation on students. Besides, the more frequently I post, the sooner
I'll stop getting warm welcomes from list elders.

Maybe it's the season. Maybe it's the memories of Mattis and cheap coffee
and the Long Island Rail waiting room at Penn Station, or of last year's
Christmas miniconference with you city folk in Manhattan, but I felt a very
chummy urge to pop in and say hello.
