Greetings, María, from across the River Plate.
The local translation of *Nine Stories* published in 1971
by Editorial Sudamericana is, in my opinion, the best suited
for us. It avoids all the common pitfalls, uses an agreeable
diction without clinging too much to South American dialect,
and solves many problems satisfactorily (e.g., the "kike" pun).
Cecilia: Good luck with your reading! No chance of taping it,
digitalizing it and posting it on the web for overseas fishes,
is there? I guess not; we're still missing Valérie's reading, for
that matter.
Regarding Fred's moral dilemma, let me just say that, as Kent
Brockman would put it,
I, for one, welcome our new tradition-aware,
publicity-starved, wool-clad canine overlord.
Saludos,
Diego D.
