I see where you're coming from more, now...and I agree that none of us are
really qualified to be **the** Catcher, while we are all catchers for some
people at some time, and are caught by others at other times.  Yes, if there
is any One Catcher for All of us, that would have to be God.  I saw Phoebe
(think about what her name means) as being Holden's Catcher in the novel, and
I saw Holden, being a teenager, as fashioning himself as a Catcher of others
(although he was aware enough of the size of this claim to know it was a
little crazy).
