I just joined this list expecting to hear some very intelligent thoughts on
the works of one of my favorite authors, only to find a mailbox crammed full
of pseudo intellectual rantings on homosexuality.  Now, I'm sure this is all
big fun, and far be it from a newcomer to puff up his chest and attempt to
direct traffic, but so far this list is nothing but a treatise for
hairsplitting political and social vanity.  Is Salinger homophobic?  None of
us know, and most of us don't care.  All we do know is that Holden Caulfield
certainly didn't go for that "flity" stuff and Antolini's actions are
certainly perculiar enough to give Holden some reservations.  So let's talk
about Salinger, pretty please?
