Subject: My mind is gone Date: Fri, 12 Dec 1997 15:58:20 EST Organization: AOL (http://www.aol.com) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit The most Salinger-like passage I've read yet, I think would have to be the end of A Moveable Feast by Hemingway, At the end when Hemingway sees his wife and his children after spending time with the rich people and what he has to say about all of it. I thought that the writing style and the message it conveyed was so much like Salinger. Did anybody else think so? Also I've noticed some Bob Dylan fans on the list. How about Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie? I've always liked the way he dealt with phonies in the middle when he says "look at my skin shine look at my skin glow and you can't even tell if they have any insides". (or something like that.) I'd also like to apologize for writing in love and war in my introduction instead of A Farewell to Arms, I'm sure alot of people noticed, but you were just too nice to say anything about it. To steal and change a phrase from Proffessor Longhair, My mind is gone. I'm in a graduate program where you have to wear headphones to your finals so that nobody will psyche you out. I'm doing it because I want to protect lists like this and make sure that authors can say what they want and so that no more books get banned. (All by myself :) ) The problem is that right now I'm competing with people who dream about themselves in Armani suits, and that's a great motivator. During break, I'll be writing treatises on horse-picking! I'm sure that you'll all be holding your breath until then. Liz --part0_881962931_boundary--
