There are different kinds of success, Camille, and success is defined
differently for people and institutions :)  And differently for different
kinds of institutions.

An individual human being does not have to be wealthy to be successful.  

A nation has to promote the wealth of its citizens to be successful. 
That's part of its reason for being, in my opinion--in a Marxist or a
Capitalist paradigm.  PART of its reason for being, not all :)  

Therefore, a nation that generates megabucks is successful on at least
that level :)  A nation (government, etc.) that allows its people to
suffer poverty on a large scale is a failure.
