   I'm definately going back to buy it.  The owner is keeping it on hold
for me.  It is, actually, the same as the 45th edition - my friend has the
same edition as you do and since it is the same I can understand why it has
little value.  Thanks!

Sarah, I'm no authority but I may be able to offer a bit of sense...a new
hardbound catcher is gonna run in the mid twenties and will be a forty
something edition (like me...)...if your second edition is in good
condition and has a dust jacket, I'd guess it's a fair price but be warned
that there is little collector's value to the second edition since it is
the same as the 45th edition I have and not the first edtion with
Salinger's mug on the cover...nonetheless, if it were in my book store I'd
have bought it, will
