I think "sentimentality" isn't really an emotion in itself, but a slant on a
specific range of emotions such as gratitude, love, passion, etc. What's
really "wrong" with the sentimental isn't so much the emotion itself but that
the "strings" being used to pull on the emotions are too visible...
