Yeah, maybe they've gone out for a bit to go "hunting
tigers out in India" (great song by Viv Stanshall's
Bonzo Dog Band '68-'69) or maybe they're just lurking.
Somehow, that word always reminds me of sordid motels
or Nixon's plumbers - good ole Chuck Colsen; a fun
guy, lots of integrity; would have gotten along well
with "Commander Blop or something..."

I saw a PBS documentary back in the disco years where
he was doing a college reading, very drunk, with a
bottle of the hard stuff next to him. Sort of like
Hunter Thompson on downers....no harmonium, chanting,
or Sunflower Sutras here buddy.

The type of poetry that would make old Holden proud.

I'm a curmudgeon, I occasionally find a halfway decent
line or two here or there in his work, but nothing has
ever moved me enough to take one of his paperbacks off
the shelf to buy it. Maybe I'll seek out the title
you found.

The curmudgeon's blotter here again. It's good you
took the earlier poster's advice about checking NIN -
maybe I should. I just remember Woodstock '94; Trent
Reznor from some town in Suburban PA was all muddy
conjuring up some contrived dark mood - banging his
keyboard to pieces and I'm thinking - why the hell
couldn't they have someone out there blowing
everyone's butt out of the water playing REAL
keyboard, knockin'em dead with Jimmy Smith style jazz
organ...grooving is so much better than destroying.
Ya want anarchy, kidz? Then pull out Coltrane's
Ascension and turn it to eleven.

And a Happy New Year to you too Jim, and all
Bannanafishers wherever you may be. :)
